The Philips
Reverbeo. B7X 14A
Back to Home .

Probably the most advanced Philips valve radio design before transistors took over. It includes a reverb switch that turns one of the 2 output channels into a sort of echo chamber. It uses 2 long springs about 18 inches fitted onto an aluminium former the whole thing suspended by springs, with transducers at each end . It has a high voltage pilot light system that glows green . This part was faulty and I replaced it with 4 conventional pilot bulbs. A bit of a puzzle removing the chassis The wooden escutcheon covering the tone controls and the wave change keys must be removed, and the whole chassis including the glass scale comes out through the front.
The main problem with this set was in the reverb circuitry . Over time the very thin copper flexible leads to the transducers had broken, just leaving the cotton inner core, only on very close inspection could the breaks be seen. After replacement all seemed well . After assembly and a long test . The "Reverbio" gave fabulous results, although the special effects reverb was not much more than a curiosity.
